That version is not wrong, exactly. The reason is supply. The locked-in effect has kept available inventory at historically low levels in most markets, which means the correction that many analysts were expecting simply did not materialize the way the data suggested it should.<\/p>\n<p>Affordability, by the standard measure of what share of median household income goes toward the monthly payment on a median-priced home, is near its worst level since the early 1980s. That is a real problem, and it is not going away quickly. That measure being at a historical extreme does not automatically produce a correction. What it means, practically, is that the buyer who can close confidently has more <a href=\"https:\/\/bunklet.com.ng\/author\/annis277195254\/\">leverage<\/a> than the headline numbers suggest.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centreforcities.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/UK_Housing_developmentx_1650.jpg\" style=\"max-width:440px;float:left;padding:10px 10px 10px 0px;border:0px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/namastayrentals.com\/author\/jermaineoshane\/\">Shop multiple<\/a> loan <a href=\"https:\/\/mustaqbel.com.pk\/author\/tammyneill518\/\">officers<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/ecr.pixeleducate.com\/author\/jaredlon744737\/\">compare<\/a> rates and fees. A quarter-point difference in your interest rate adds up to real money that most buyers leave on the table by taking the first offer they receive. Lender fees vary too. Show up for it even if it costs you half a day of work. First-time buyers are sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/property.cbaservices.id\/author\/edmundtritt58\/\">surprised<\/a> by how much cash is required beyond the down <a href=\"https:\/\/sandrelimiranda.com.br\/author\/richiemullen15\/\">payment<\/a> itself. The record on market timing for owner-occupied housing is not encouraging.
